Xu Shorts

Dryad Cove

Many millennia ago, Xu was filled to the brim with various kinds of flora and fauna. How unfortunate it was then, that Ereon, a son of Aonir, found himself wandering into the home of the Dryards -  ancient creatures blessed with the magic of nature. He fell in love with one of their kind, a love his brothers and sisters would not approve of. They cursed the Dryad for seducing their sibling and took away her power, causing the once green Xu to decay into a wasteland.

Kaith Jabar is one of the four known "Kaith" cities in the far west of Xu. Like the others, it had been established when the Hybernians Empire first reached Xu during the early days of the Age of the Sword , and was under the jurisdiction of the Circle Mage, Hokan Ashir, during the rule of the Circle, however, its current state is uncertain.

Slaver's Bay

When one brings up slavery, the Dark Races usually spring to mind first - being known for practicing the cruel craft for hundreds of years. The Slaver's Bay may have been a trading hub for their merchandise back when the Dark Ones were plenty on Xu, or perhaps this place was something the Humans had in common with their enemies...

Thunder Bay

Even before the destruction caused by the Convocation, there existed waves that were unruly, tides stirred up by elemental forces. The skies cracked above them, unleashing thunder and lightning at the sea, decimating those unfortunate to find themselves sailing below.

Hullbreaker Cliffs

Many-a sailor have met their demise at the Hullbreaker Cliffs. The wild storms of the Sea of Dream pushing them into walls of stone as they helplessly await their doom. The Convocation has put this graveyard of ships to rest, but one can only imagine all the treasures lost for eternity neath the ravaging elemental sea.

The Red Claw is a claw-shaped sierra in the west of Xu, geographically separating the four Human cities there from the rest of Xu - whether or not it holds any strategic value beyond this fact is unknown.

Earthblood Pit

There are places on Eo where the scorching blood of this world makes its way to the surface, tearing apart all that stands in its way, and turning the area into an inhospitable place where only the toughest of creatures survive.

Fallfire is an area preceding the depths of the Earthblood Pit and, as such, it is no less dangerous and vile. Perhaps the Dark Ones of the past were brave enough to explore this place, alas, it remains abandoned today.

Blazing Stones

Located not too far from the very heart of Xu, the blazing Stones are a place of curiosity. Legend has it that the Blazing Stones were once home to Utrur, a Giant tasked with protecting the colosseum of the Gods. Upon being tricked, Utrur decided to cast three curses upon this land for only the most cunning of individuals to solve and finally re-open the gates to the playground of the gods.

Onyx Shores

The Onyx Shores were the first stop of many deciding to try their luck on Xu. Though not the most hospitable, they offered a quick path to Empyria, and were thus valued by merchants and adventurers alike. However, this grabbed the attention of those, who preferred to make a living through less honest means, turning traversing through these shores into a double-edged sword.

Dragonslayer Bay

The time of the Dragonslayers lies in the distant past, back when the humans first left the Windwall and built their first settlements. Though they were most prominent on Fiara, they chasted the giant lizards in many parts of the globe, including Xu. May this bay serve as a reminder of those days - when the Humans rose up to conquer Eo.

Skull Cliffs

Centuries ago, as the Dark Races fled Xu, their path took them across the northern shores where they would eventually make their way through this place. Perhaps they used it to rest, perhaps they moved from it rather soon - however, given the ominous name these cliffs were given, it would appear their stay here was not a peaceful one.

Thousandfire Mountains

As the Dark Ones made their way through Xu, they left a path of destruction in their wake - after all, they were created to conquer Eo by any means. Thousands of fires lit up the skies as they marched onwards, disregarding all life as they went, even their own, all for the glory of their gods.

City of Souls

Eons ago, strange creatures from outside of Eo suddenly appeared in this world. They were gruesome and bellicose, and the Guardians did not take kindly to their presence, for Aonir's rules forbade alien creatures from entering. So, the Gods struck these strangers down, however, as they were foreign, Hirin refused to take their souls to the Mor Duine, instead, leaving them neither alive nor dead, doomed to roam the walls of the City of Souls for eternity.

The Red Wastes

When the Humans came to the shores of Xu, many of its indigenous people were forced to move their settlements further inland. One such group was known as the Hazim - pirates and bandits who had always shared rather rocky relations with the Imperials. As nomads, they rarely reside in one spot, with the exception of the vacant wastes of Xu that their tribes have turned into their home for generations to come.

Raven Pass

Before the arrival of the Humans and Dwarves on Xu, the Iron Heart Mountains were home to the Norcaine. Their abandoned fortresses still adorn this place and send chills down the spine of those traversing the region. The Norcaine of this may be long gone, but it had since found new, perhaps even more gruesome, inhabitants.

Darkwind Mountain

During the days of the Hybernian empire, the imperials on Xu, together with the Kathai, pledged an oath to protect the races of the light against the horrors of the Black Jungle. Soon thereafter, countless forts were constructed across the Darkwind Mountains, keeping wicked creatures at bay, and securing a relative peace on Xu. However, the passage of time caused the oath to be forgotten, and without it, the once impregnable defences fell into ruin.

Clockwork Crypts

Before there was a Circle to explore the hidden mysteries of this world, another organization took that mantle upon them, at least on Xu - the Zerbites. They studied the Black Jungle and its beasts, hoping to so protect their people and preserve peace. They would often venture into the unknown, collecting new knowledge and wisdom that they would then store here, deep below the Darkwind Mountains, in the Clockwork Crypts.

The Gorge

The slithering pathways and dark caverns of the Black Jungle on Xu have been the end of many who have tried to explore them - the Gorge well and truly embodies that notion. Death lurks around every corner, luring many in with the promise of riches and power, only to deliver them hopelessness and despair. The path to Zarach's Bone Temple is evil in its purest form, making all who venture to the Gorge understand why it is here that the Gods have no power.

Each Circle Mage had its beginnings, for Hokan Ashir, those were his early days in the far west of Xu, the city of his birth - Kaith Halur. Not much is known of the city itself, though it certainly must have been one of the largest Human settlements on Xu following Empyria, and as such, it played an important role in the early dealings of the Humans there.

Empyria

The Golden City - pride of Human civilization on Xu. Empyria became autonomous after the fall of the Hybernian Empire, however, it kept the title of Emperor along with many other customs. Away from the intrigues on Fiara, Empyria steadily grew inside its own sphere of influence, eventually growing into the lively city we know today.

Kathai

Many believe that those Shapers who survived the onslaught of the Dragons only hid on Fiara, but that is not entirely true. Very few of them fled their homes to the Darkwind Mountains on Xu - they would later be known as the Children of the Wind, the Kathai.

Ghostwatch

As the Dark Races fled Xu, they found themselves with the Imperials at their back, poised to rid them of this world. They ran to the far east where they constructed a massive fortress atop ancient Shaper ruins that was to keep their pursuers at bay, giving them the time they desperately needed to escape the continent. Many honorable warriors of the dark sacrificed themselves on that day. As their brethren set course for Urgath, they stayed behind, determined to face certain death, for they knew that they would secure a future for their people by doing so.

The peaks of the Iron Heart are both lonely and full of dangers, so the Dwarves of Dunholme decided to venture out of their homes in order to construct outposts. The Nameless Ruins

Xu is the origin of many races, and as such, it becomes hard to ascertain whom exactly lays claim on many of its ancient ruins. It is likely that the Nameless Ruins were once an old city of the Norcaine from a time when the Dark Ones were yet to leave Xu, hiding secrets of their early culture that many in today's world are unaware of.

The Citadel

The empire of the Shapers was vast, the largest there ever was, but it, too, had its beginnings. Back when their race was still young and in tandem with the world around them, a young couple conducting research discovered the Archfire, the essence of all magic. At first, their people rejoiced, for the Archfire gave them powers beyond comprehension, and so they built a city at the site that would henceforth serve as the capital of their people, Danduil - the Citadel.
